A lovely sunny afternoon after a grey cool day of yesterday. My 2 hanging bougainvilleas are finally showing some reddish flower buds. I’ve learned they will not set flowers if they get too much water. Meanwhile in the greenhouse I have one ripe Black Krim tomato. It got a bit smashed when I dropped it in the kitchen. And it is cucumber season. So many are coming now as is with the bitter melons. The peppers are doing their bit, too. I am very happy with how productive the greenhouse has been this second year. I’m not too keen on the early Red Alert tomatoes I had. Not sweet or delicious. Will not do again in spring. The snow peas were a success. I might seed a few again soon to see how they perform now into late autumn. I still have celery and Swiss Chard growing from spring. I’ve been harvesting handfuls to add to stir fries. I’m sure they will keep going into late fall.Day 6 of #augustbreak2022. I’M READING ..1) Tom Wolfe’s A Man in Full. On page 243 of 742. Learning a lot about politics, the business world, and life in Atlanta, Georgia.Day 5 #augustbreak2022Life feels grim sometimes. It’s good to have a garden to come to.Blanching and freezing peas and beans.Day 4 #augustbreak2022. SWEETNESS. THere’s a bee in my bonnet. Hope there’ll be honey soon. This morning’s harvest.Day 3 #augustbreak2022. HANDWRITING has become a lost art - to me anyways. Maybe I should pick up my pen and put it to paper again.Day 2 of August Break. LEAF - bitter melon and slipper gourd hanging out together in the greenhouse. First year for the slipper gourd. Seeds a gift from another gardener in our community garden. They were small, black, rough and hard. He said they were from his grandmother and they were Chinese beans. I had wondered how they could be beans. After the seeds sprouted and leafed, my plant identifier solved the mystery.Day 61/61 Daisy Yellow Index Card a Day Challenge. Off prompt for the last day. I want a little pomp and splash to end the series. I like to daydream about being a bit of a VAMP like Miss Diana Ross of the Supremes. The end.Instagram

THE MEETING
It is Sunday of the new year. I’m a little late for the ball but what the heck. Better late than not showing up. So here’s my story for the Friday Fictioneers. We are storytellers of 100 words or so. … Continue reading
