My daily draw/watercolour. Day 98 of #the100dayproject . Irises. When sleep escapes you, you paint. You don’t get the best results but it is an effort. Flowers are not my favourite and I was sloppy with the background. My daily draw/watercolour. Day 97 of #the100dayproject. Team Martha and Lia. I hope they approve. Somehow I’ve made Lia look like a teenager. She grew up fast! Sometimes I have no control of the outcome.Baking bread. Of comfort and joy on a cool rainy and snowy day. The snow was short lived. I ate 2 slices. My daily draw/watercolour. Day 96 of #the100dayproject. Reading - from a photo I saw and love of a FB page. I adore these 2 friends and the story they are telling. My daily draw/watercolour. Day 95 of #the100dayproject. My Valentine’s bouquet is long past due. Now that I’ve captured it, I can let it go. As you can see, my table is in its usual mess.A memory of Sheba checking out squirrels up the tree. She left us 2 years ago yesterday. Our very last squash from fall harvest. A Sweet Mama. Will be part of soup for lunch. I will add radish greens from the greenhouse to the mix. A cool morning. We had a bit of rain overnight. There’s forecast of minus night temps later in the week. I wonder what kind of summer we will have this year.My daily draw/watercolour. Day 94 of #the100dayproject Trying something outside my usual. I love flowers but not fond of painting them because they are not easy.Caught the culprit - scarlet lily beetle snacking on my plant. I did away with it. I hear they can eat up all your lilies. Good thing they don’t care for day lilies.Tulips in bloom.Instagram

I’D DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY
It’s a glorious sunny morning. Sheba and I are out on our daily morning run. It’s really a slow trot with a stop every half block. It’s exhilarating. I feel every cell in my being oxygenated and revived. My spirit … Continue reading
POSTCRIPT FROM THE LEDGE
You’ve made it to retirement and if you think you can just fall back into life again, guess again! It’s not that easy. The life you once knew is no more. For one thing, you’ve grown up. No, you’ve grown … Continue reading

REACHING
I am not sure why I reach so far and hard for things out of my reach. There are so many good things close at hand, but somehow things beyond my grasp are always more attractive. You know the saying, … Continue reading
RESOLVES
Sunday morning, snow raining down. Looking out my window the title of the movie, Snow Falling on Cedars, comes to me. Pictures and words come to me and I speak of them out loud, not that they have anything to … Continue reading
THE LINE OF RESPECT
It is Saturday morning. Breakfast and dishes are done. I am sitting here with my second cup of tea. Somewhere in downtown Saskatoon, there is a big rally on defending our climate, defend our communities. I am not there. There … Continue reading
A THOUSAND NAMES FOR JOY
I am reading Byron Katie’s A Thousand Names for Joy. I am always in perpetual pursuit of happiness. Perhaps it is the ultimate book for me because it is about living in harmony with the way things are. I love … Continue reading
STUFF THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF
Last night I dreamed that I cut my hair during my coffee break. It took me almost two hours and I hadn’t done my back yet. By that time my shift was over. I had wondered, in my dream, who … Continue reading
LET IT BE
I am my own worse enemy so much of the time. But on this day, Sunday, the day before Remembrance Day, I find myself singing one of the Beatles’ song: ‘When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary … Continue reading
DOING THE BEST WE CAN
I did not show up for my novel this morning. It was intentional. I felt at an impasse – boxed in by my own words. It was best to let it sit and percolate on its own. It’s Saturday and … Continue reading

NO WORDS TODAY
Everyone needs a day off. Today was one of those days for me. My desk was as messy as ever. The how-to manual close by. My writing jacket was on the back of my chair. I had no words. … Continue reading
